  • The School

    Piedmont Academy was established in 1970 as a non-profit, 501©3, accredited, independent, co-educational, college-preparatory institution educating students from pre-school through twelfth grade. The campus is located 60 miles southeast of Atlanta in Monticello, Jasper County, Georgia. The school is governed by a Board of Trustees which consists of eleven members who are elected during the Annual Parent’s Meeting or appointed by the Board of Trustees. Encompassing twenty-five acres, the campus consists of seven classroom buildings; an outside classroom; media center; cafeteria; a full-size gymnasium including a stage for theatrical productions, a separate play area for elementary students; a football and soccer stadium; baseball and fast-pitch softball field with an outdoor covered batting and pitching practice area. The lower gym is a 12,000 square foot activity buiilding used for physical education which includes a gym, weight room, locker rooms, and an office.

  • Accreditation / Membership

    Piedmont is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges(SACS) ,AdvancEd and with quality by the Georgia Accrediting Commission. We are a member of the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA). 

  • Admissions

    Admission to Piedmont Academy is based on a family interview, satisfactory aptitude / achievement testing, references, discipline records, and academic records. Applicants must have average or above average aptitude and demonstrate a willingness to follow the guidelines of good citizenship and socially acceptable behavior.  The application/entrance testing fee of $75.00 per application is due on or before the testing appointment. Yearly tuition fees range from $5227.50 for a pre-kindergarten student to $7,513 for a high school student. Educational assistance, based on need, is available to qualified applicants in grades K5-12th. Piedmont is also partners with Apogee – Georgia School Choice Scholarship Fund.  Apogee is available to new students coming from public into independent.

  • The Faculty & Staff

    The school has 63 professional faculty and staff members-one third holds one or more advanced degrees. The ratio of students to faculty iin elementary school s 14:1.

  • Curriculum

    Students must have a strong academic preparation in order to succeed in high school.  Our elementary grades use an assortment of different curricumums including Big Ideas and Tara West math, A-Beka, Accelerated Reader, Rooted in Reading Book Studies, and individual book studies. Other curriculums include Zaner-Bloser, Gallopade GA, Rockin' Resource Writing, and Daily Grams, and Easy Grammar.  Our upper grades use big Ideas Math, Holt McDougal, The Book of R, and Pivot Interactives. In science our students use Conceptual Physics, Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology,, Bio. Miller & Levine, Glencoe, Larson and McGraw-Hill. .  All high school classes use a college preparation curriculum. Grades 2nd and above have required outside reading during the summer months, as well as during the year as part of their language development.

  • Standardized Testing

    Piedmont Academy administers a comprehensive program of testing at all levels to assess the individual progress of each student. All students in grades 2nd - 7th are given the IOWA Test of Basic Skills achievement test. Students in 8th and 9th take the Pre-Scholastic Aptitude  Test P(SAT). Sophomores, juniors and seniors take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and American College Testing Program (ACT) either on or off campus.  Juniors are administered the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test.  Eligible students who are obtaining driving permits are administered ADAP (Alcohol, Drug, Awareness Program) through their health class.
