THE COUGAR CLUB MEETING scheduled for May 28th has been postponed until a later date.  Mr. Welch would like to be more involved in the re-forming of Cougar Club before offering an informational meeting to parents.  We thank you for your patience in this process, and we hope to get back to you soon with more information. 

  

FINAL EXAMS END TOMORROW (24th).

 

FINAL EXAMS:  Exam periods will be two (2) hours long.  Students are to remain in the classroom the entire testing period.  Only students meeting the criteria listed in the Student Handbook will be allowed to exempt.  Students exempting exams will not be required to come during those exam times.  The final exam schedule will be as follows:

 

High School:

Wednesday (22nd) – 1st and 2nd

Thursday (23rd) – 3rd and 4th

Friday (24th) – 5th

 

Middle School:

Wednesday (22nd) – 1st and 4th

Thursday (23rd) – 2nd and 3rd         

 

VARSITY FOOTBALL:  A mandatory meeting will be held in the cafeteria on Tuesday (28th) @ 6:30 P.M. for all varsity football parents and players.  If a student athlete has any interest in playing varsity football this year, please be in attendance.  Summer/Fall plans and coach introductions will be discussed.

 

SOFTBALL GIRLS (Middle School and Varsity) will begin workouts on Thursday (30th) @ 5:30 P.M.  All girls who want to play next year will need to be there.  Those who did not get a physical will need to have a physical done and bring the proper paperwork with you when you come to workout on the 30th.  If you do not have a physical form, we have those available in the front office.

 

BUS ROUTES THIS WEEK:  Final exams will take place today, tomorrow, and Friday (22nd, 23rd, and 24th).  These are half-days for all students.  We will be dismissing at 12:30 P.M. each day.  Buses will run their normal routes beginning at 12:30 – 12:40 P.M. each day.  Please make arrangements to have your child picked up at their bus stop early on those days.  We do not want our bus driver to have to wait with any child, but we will not leave any child unattended. As a safety measure, those children not picked up at their stop will be brought back to the school for parental pickup.

 

ELEMENTARY FOOTBALL SIGNUP:  The signup sheet is posted on the board outside the office.  Those students 4th thru 6th grade who would like to play, please sign up.  We currently have 8 boys signed up.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL SIGNUP:  The signup sheet is posted on the board outside the office.  Those students 7th and 8th grade who would like to play, please sign up.  We currently have 9 boys signed up.

LOST AND FOUND:  Parents, please encourage your child to check our “Lost and Found” barrels (upper gym and lower gym) to claim any items of clothing, lunch boxes, etc. they may be missing.  Those items remaining at the close of school will be donated to Goodwill.

 

COCA-COLA PRODUCT TOPS:  Mrs. Brady has an abundance of Coca-Cola Product tops and will need help entering them on the website this summer.  If you can help, please come by the front office/library and pick up a bag.  Each bag will contain instructions.  Our school gets cash for these and there is no limit.

 

FFA CAMP:  We plan to attend the week of June 17-21.  The cost is $200.00 per student.
We will leave on Monday morning @ 9:00 A.M. and will return on Friday about the same time.  If your child would like to attend, we will need their payment by the last day of school.  This is not mandatory, but all FFA members are encouraged to attend.  This will be a great week of fun, fellowship, and team building for our FFA Chapter.
 

  

 

WILD GAME DINNER:  As you know, tuition does not cover all of our school expenses.  In order to make improvements to school facilities and offer more benefits to faculty, staff, and families, all private schools must have fundraisers throughout the year.  We are beginning our fundraising efforts for the 2019-20 school year just a little early.  Our first event will be a “Wild Game Dinner” on Saturday, August 24, 2019 in Piedmont’s gym.  This will be a night of good food, fun, and fellowship, with several chances to win a variety of outdoor items including guns/rifles.  We are currently selling raffle tickets for three (3) Browning guns. Tickets are $50.00 each and are available from any faculty or staff member.  You do not have to be present to win.  The three winning tickets will be drawn on the night of the Wild Game Dinner.  We will need your help in order to make this a successful event. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.

 

 

AFTER-SCHOOL CONDITIONING is underway for those students who plan to play football next year (rising 9th thru rising 12th).  Workouts will be held Monday thru Thursday each week (3:15 – 4:30 P.M.) for the remainder of this school year.

 

OUR FFA MEMBERS have grown some beautiful hanging baskets, as well as some vegetable seedlings ready for planting.  Town and Country Farm and Pet Supply (across the highway) has graciously offered to help our FFA sell their plants and baskets.  The Town and Country personnel will be able to show you which plants are ours.  All sales will benefit our FFA Program.  Please stop by and browse.

 

PIEDMONT ACADEMY DISCOUNT CARDS ARE NOW AVAILABLE!!  The cards are $10.00 each and may be purchased from any Piedmont faculty member or from Ms. Tyler in the school office.  Proceeds from the sale of these cards go toward our Faculty Scholarship given to a deserving senior at graduation.
